Fleur

(Style Me Pretty)

I'm a strong believer in flowers.
Today I returned from the local farmers market with beautiful, pencil thin asparagus, brussel sprouts (do you know how much I love brusel sprouts? They are amazing.), strawberries, and the most gorgeous bunch of ranunculus, in these beautiful rusty peach, yellow and red colors, with the odd white bloom for change.

They make me happy.
When I have my own little corner of the world I will have flowers every week, and I think I'll almost never have roses, with such beautiful things as violets, and daffodils, and tulips and lilac and ranunculus to chose instead.

Hidden

This has been a very bad week. My work has become very disorienting, and my office is understaffed because people seem to have caught the plauge.
However, it is Friday, and I will have a weekend full of nice things to remind me that my job is just a job, its not perminant, and that I shall overcome it. Its just my job, its not my life.
My life includes painting small canvases, reading good books, cooking tasty food, buying some small, pretty, things, sleeping in, and maybe, if I'm lucky, one day having a fort like the one above to stay hidden from the world in.

Boing, boing.

Gettit? Spring? Boing? Oh nevermind.

This first weekend of spring has been very nice, full of the soft air and rich light that marks the rosiest of seasons.

All the trees have turned pink and purple and white, and its delightful.

Long Lost

So last weekend was mega fun, where the Queen of Hearts herself, (known to us mortals as Lizz), and I went and saw Alice in Wonderland.
The verdict is about three stars.
I dont think it was stop the presses brilliant, but I did have fun with it, and I want everything Alice wears.
But of course I go to a movie about self discovery and think about the clothes. Classic.

Mices.

So I work the evening shift at my new job, wherein the people are nice, but when the office (a cavernous wearhouse space) gets quiet the mice come out to play.
Which, of course, reminds me of this.

If I sing to them perhaps the will help me with my filing?

Monochrome

I love old movies. Mad about them. Compleatly over the moon. If someone was to ask me to list my favorite movies, the list would include several black and white gems. Need one of the funniest movies ever made? Try Some Like it Hot. Need a romantic movie about finding yourself? Sabrina.
And for a thriller, something to tease the brain and send tingles up the spine? Well, for that you have to go to Alfred Hitchcock, one of the most dramatic cinematographers to ever live.
When I was in Junior High, my father took me to go see Rear Window at the Crest Theatre, a funky art deco theatre that shows art films and old movies.
And I was compleatly sold. I fell in love with the master of mystery, his charming sleuths, his cool blonde bombshells, and his sly humor.
I am particularly fond of his hidden cameos, how he sneaks himself into his movies, a wink and a nudge, a little signature.

But the fat man can be hard to spot, so this is excelent.

My favorites are the newspaper, and him missing the bus.

Fear not blog! I have not abandoned you. Trust me, with a long day of data entry, I will need my pretty fix more then ever, and will leap onto anything cool and creative I can find.

So we'll make this work, you and me.
